Where your gateway credentials are stored
How your Accept.blue API key and PIN are kept on the machine, and who can see them.
By the end of this article, you know where your Accept.blue credentials live and what protects them.
Encrypted on the machine
Your API key and PIN are encrypted at rest on the computer running Novella POS. They are not sent anywhere except directly to Accept.blue when processing a transaction.
Per-install, not shared
Each install of Novella POS connects to its own Accept.blue merchant account. There is no central server holding credentials for multiple stores. If you run more than one register, each one is connected separately under Settings > Store Settings > Advanced settings.
Who can view or change them
The Store Settings card that leads to Advanced settings only appears in the Settings hub for admin accounts, so a cashier login never sees it. Opening Advanced settings itself also requires clicking through a confirmation warning that changing these settings can affect what customers are charged or break card processing for the store. The credential fields never display the stored key or PIN back to you; the form only shows a preview of the last few characters and lets you overwrite it with a new value.
If credentials are ever compromised or need to be rotated, generate new ones in your Accept.blue account and paste them in under Advanced settings. There is no separate “revoke” step inside Novella POS itself; that happens on the Accept.blue side.
